And when they do, you rip open the package and try your new bracelets on – only to discover they’re a bit too big *womp* 😞 Don’t stress or lose hope – tightening your new bracelets is actually quite simple!
However, there are a few things that we’ve seen recommended online that we need to address. For the complete guide on how to tighten bracelets safely and achieve that perfect fit, keep reading! Let’s get into it…
How to Tighten Pura Vida Bracelets for a Perfect Fit
Ready to learn how to tighten Pura Vida bracelets quickly and easily? Our collection of unique bracelets is so highly sought after because of the versatility that the pieces offer. They’re one size fits all, and come with anywhere from 2-6 inches of adjustability – so getting that perfect fit is totally possible. And contrary to what you may see suggested online, there is actually no reason to untie the bracelet completely – even if you’re trying to adjust the sizing. Our artisans have carefully crafted these bracelets to allow for effortless resizing!
Place your bracelet on your wrist, and then pull on the string ends on each side of the slip knot. This should be all it takes to tighten up your bracelets – it’s that easy. From there, you can make the decision to either snip off the extra string on each end, or tie the strings together.
One important takeaway from this article is that if you make the decision to cut your bracelets (or anklets, for that matter) with scissors, you may experience issues with the product fraying or becoming more easily damaged over time. More importantly, if you alter your bracelet in any way, either with scissors or by re-burning the strings/edges, we will be unable to replace your bracelet for you. So, we advise against this – unless you’re certain you won’t need to replace the bracelet.
What About the Anchor Wrap Bracelet?
The advice above is relevant to the vast majority of our bracelets. But: what about the Anchor Wrap Bracelet?
To adjust the size of this bracelet, you’ll need to adjust the loop size. It’s not as daunting as it sounds; just hold onto the large slip knot at the base of the loop. Then, you can pull the long string to shorten the loop.
If you’re looking to add size to your Anchor Wrap Bracelet and make it bigger, just hold the large slip knot and pull the loop from side to side until you’ve wriggled that perfect fit into place. Easy enough, right?
What About the Metal Bracelets or Demi Fine Bracelets?
Our metal bracelets & demi fine bracelets are a true work of art. We’re obsessed with the way they glimmer in the sun, and the touch of elevation they can provide to any look ✨ However, getting the proper size is paramount to getting the most out of your metal or demi fine bracelets. Can these be adjusted in the same manner as the string, bead, or braid jewelry? The answer is yes.
Our demi fine bracelets feature an extra 1” extension should you need to make your bracelets larger. And, tightening them is as simple as removing the clip holding the bracelet together and looping it closer.
How to Loosen Pura Vida Bracelets
It’s pretty unlikely you’ll need to loosen your Pura Vida bracelets as we design them to be tightened, rather than loosened. However, we’ve seen countless cases of people tightening their bracelets too much (don’t worry, we do it too), and then needing to undo the work. With that being said – how can you loosen your Pura Vida bracelet?
Again, no need to untie the bracelets and retie them again. Just pull on the sides of the bracelet gently. From there, you can tug the loose strings through the slip knot and expand the diameter of the bracelet. Simple as that!
Final Thoughts on How to Adjust Pura Vida Bracelets With Ease
We hope this quick article on how to tighten and loosen Pura Vida bracelets has helped you get your new pieces sized to perfection. Remember – there is no need to untie your bracelets to adjust the sizing:
- To tighten your bracelets: Pull on each end of the loose strings. Then, tie off the extra strings or let them dangle! We don’t recommend cutting or burning off the extra string.
- To loosen your bracelets: Gently pull on the sides of the bracelet and tug the loose strings through the slip knots. Then, tighten them off and see if you’ve got a better fit.
