Music Wednesday: Happy Halloween

thriller 1983 02 g1 Music Wednesday: Happy Halloween
It’s here once again, that time of the year where vampires, zombies, goblins and monsters roam the streets, and witches and ghost fly around our cities casting spells and haunting innocent people, creating havoc, and spooking anyone in their sight. Ok, well that might be a little stretch, most actual vampires, goblins, zombies, ghost and witches you’ll run into today will be under 3 feet tall, carrying a little sack filled with candy, they’ll be yelling “trick or treat” instead of “I want to suck your blood” and they’ll be adorable. Nonetheless, today will be filled with a chill in the air and Halloween also known as All Hallows’ Eve will be celebrated in a number of countries around the world. What a perfect way for us to get in the “spirit” of Halloween than to listen to some holiday music?!

Is there such a thing as Halloween music? Apparently so. Much of it in my humble opinion is silly, not very scary, and catered for school age children. Dig a little deeper and a little away from anything that says Halloween in the lyrics, and you will find that there are plenty of songs out there about ghost, zombies and or monsters that will for sure creep you out! I made a list of my top 3 favorite “Halloween” songs that I think you’ll appreciate. Michael Jackson-Thriller, Monster Mash (I know it’s over played, but such a classic), and Ghostbusters. Enjoy!
