Hurricane Sandy kills at least 33 people in seven states and leaves 8 million customers without power. The number of actual people without power is thought to be several times that number. In the states Hurricane Sandy hit the hardest and lives were lost in areas such as New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maryland, North Carolina and West Virginia. The hurricane hit the east coast spreading the power outages over 18 states Virginia to Maine. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said in todays morning conference that this devastating storm, maybe the worst that New York has ever experienced. Seventeen of the victims were in New York state with 10 of them residents of New York city.

Hurricane Sandy smashed ashore triggering floods, fires and devastation in the states, but has affected areas outside of the U.S. as well. Hurricane Sandy created havoc to the Caribbean, killing around 100 people.
