Travel Tip Thursday #5: Villajoyosa

Known as Villajoyosa in Spanish or La Vila Joiosa in Valencian, whatever name works for you, this coastal hidden gem is a must see! If you are planning a trip to Europe and are stopping in Spain, then you must visit this colorful villa by the sea. There aren’t too many places in the world like the Mediterranean Sea, so if you get a chance, make your way towards these warm and salty waters. Spain is known for it’s big cities such as, Madrid and Barcelona, but the coast of Spain holds many magical places, and Villajoyosa is the perfect example.




Villajoyosa is famous for their chocolate industry, tourism and colorful beachfront property. Spain’s most famous and popular Chocolate, Valor Chocolate, now exported across the world has a factory open to visitors, so pop on it! Located 32 km from the city of Alicante, and 8km South of Benidorm, this small coastal town is located in the costal area known as Costa Blanca (White Coast), and is the historic and administrative capital of the comaraca of Marina Baixa. A true beauty. La Vila Joiosa literally means Joyful Village. How nice is that? Sometimes, that is just what you need. A place that is guaranteed to make you think “Happy”. With over three kilometers of beaches close to the city center and the Amadorio river running right through La Vila, Villajoyosa is the epitome of beauty at its finest.




Travel Tip: Visit Spain. Make your way down to Villajoyosa and simply enjoy the colorful beachfront! Walk through the town and look for the tall leaning building, it’s there, you just have to look for it. Also, must take a peek and visit one of the most popular tourist attractions, the Gothic Catholic church, make sure to take a look at the Baroque altar piece. ¡Buen viaje!
