Travel Tip Thursday #4: Meet Bocas Del Toro’s Starfish Beach, Panama

Think of a magical place where nothing but beauty surrounds you. A place where it’s so magnificent the stars shimmer during the day, and a place where peace and tranquility surround you…a place where stress is not invited. Add, white sand beaches, incredibly clear water and hundreds by hundreds of orange sea stars. What is this place you ask? Playa de Las Estrellas, also known as Starfish Beach. It’s a destination on everybody’s travel itinerary when visiting this staggering archipelago. There is no other place like Bocas Del Toro, Panama, well…maybe only in dreams.




Starfish Beach is located on Isla Colon’s North West side, just a short hike from Bocas Del Drago. Ideally, you need weeks or days to explore Panama, so if you find yourself only having a couple days, this is a must see destination. The aquamarine water is so clear you can see individual grains of sand through the water, and almost so calm that it’s a guaranteed ideal snorkeling location. Will you find much? The main attraction at Starfish Beach, are of course the sea stars. The beach is pristine, so lets keep it that way. Keep the pack it in, back it out mentality. Disposing your trash at a near by trash will also do. Just know too, that this is a location for young adults seeking adventure, to beach friendly for families with kids. Don’t worry if you don’t plan and show up spontaneously, there is local cuisine available, but if you plan ahead, this is a perfect spot to set up a picnic for a day of fun. Sounds pretty nice huh?




Travel Tip: Visit Starfish Beach. You can’t go wrong with laying on the beach all day soaking in the rays and letting out the steam or tension from real life, but if you crave a little more action, then beach activities are at your feet. Go for a swim, kayak along the immaculate coast, float around with lounge chairs or water bikes. You can paddle your way along the shoreline over mangroves…what a better why then to see these gorgeous sea stars than by smooth gliding above water? Pura Vida:)
