The National Hemophilia Foundation is an excellent organization dedicated to finding better treatments and cures for inheritable bleeding disorders. They provide education, advocacy and research on preventing complications of these inheritable bleeding disorders.

Many of us have heard of bleeding (coagulation) disorders, may experience them first hand or know someone who does. This disorder prevents blood from clotting normally. Hemophilia’s main symptom is uncontrolled and often involuntary bleeding.

So why does this happen? According to the National Hemophilia Foundation, hemophilia is a genetic disorder and results from the deficiency of one or more proteins known as blood clotting factors.
