Tijuana House Building with Michael Antic
Our Story
Our house building efforts with three families began in South Tijuana, Mexico two years ago through an organization called Esperanza. Through tremendous hard work and generous donations we got great satisfaction from our efforts – helping those in need by providing them with a new home. The impact made on the lives of others in such a short time is tremendous.
The Impact
We would like to continue this event twice a year through donations from you. Your donations will cover room and board expenses for volunteers and for the materials needed to build the houses during our time there. Any additional funding will go to expanding the house building program. It is important to know Esperanza International has been running short on funds of late and recently laid off three people. So it is critical we keep them going. However, they do more than just build houses. They have hands up, not hand out approach. Locals are educated on maintaining a healthy community environment through entrepreneurial initiatives, home loans that the new homeowner pays off in four years, recycling programs, and urban gardens. Volunteers get to experience another culture through the lens of a community member. Everyone wins!
What We Need & What You Get
Of the $6000 collected, $1500 will go to five experienced volunteers who have done this before. It covers their three days of room and board and the materials needed to build the houses in Tijuana. Donations that is in excess of $300 will cover the most generous donors costs if they wish to volunteer down there. All remaining cash will go back into the programs to keep it operating.
I Don’t Have The Much Money…
No worries, donate what you can. $20 multiply by 300 people who are in the same boat will make the greatest impact. Contribute here. Thank you!
